Will the Changan Lumin EV be revealed at MIAS 2025?
Changan PH teases yet another vehicle for MIAS 2025, could be the Lumin mini EV
Changan Philippines has been teasing its upcoming vehicles which are set to debut at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). The automaker has already hinted at bringing the Q05 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) crossover as well as the A05 PHEV sedan which could take on the likes of the BYD Sealion 6 and Seal 5, respectively. Changan could also finally launch the S7 for the Philippine market as homologation documents for the yet-to-debut EV have already been released by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
With Changan Philippines making its presence felt before MIAS 2025, the automaker wants to let everyone know they have plenty in-store next month. In fact, Changan has released yet another teaser of another vehicle they will debut next month at World Trade Center Manila.
Based on the teaser image they released, the upcoming vehicle will feature a pair of eye-catching LED headlights. Design-wise, the mystery vehicle could be a hatchback with a distinct shape. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, we were able to research more about the upcoming Changan and it appears it will be the brand's answer to the likes of the BYD Seagull, Jetour Ice Cream, DFSK Candy, and the Dongfeng Nammi.
After a quick Google search, the mystery vehicle Changan will reveal at MIAS 2025 could be the Lumin. Already available in other Southeast Asia countries such as Thailand, the Changan Lumin measures 3270mm long, 1700mm wide, 1590mm tall, and will have a 1980mm wheelbase. Style-wise, the Lumin comes with a pair of massive LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, a boxy profile, round LED taillights that resemble the headlights, and flush door handles.
It comes with a single electric motor that drives the front wheels, making 48 PS and 83 Nm of torque. A 28.08 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery provides the necessary juice for the Changan Lumin and gives it a range of up to 301 km on a full charge based on the NEDC cycle. The Lumin can be recharged from 0% to 100% via AC in less than 10 hours while a fast DC charger can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes. Last but not least, Changan's mini EV has two drive modes (Eco & Sport) and has a top speed of over 100 km/h.
With Changan Philippines setting its sights on taking a slice of the mini EV market, the Lumin will likely attract customers who want an affordable and compact mini EV that's ideal for city driving.
