Changan PH could reveal the Nevo A05 plug-in hybrid sedan
Yesterday, Changan Philippines distributor Inchcape officially announced they will be at this year's Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) with several electrified vehicles. The automaker shared that three out of the four upcoming models will sport Changan's 101 logo which will highlight their mid-range electrified vehicle lineup.
The automaker has already teased what could be the Nevo Q05 which is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) crossover that could directly compete with the likes of the BYD Sealion 6. However, Changan Philippines is far from done in teasing its upcoming vehicles.
The brand has teased yet another vehicle that will be debuting at MIAS 2025. Changan has yet to officially reveal the mystery vehicle in full although based on the teaser image, it will be a sleek and stylish sedan. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, a quick search has given us a good idea of what to expect next month at MIAS 2025.
The mystery vehicle Changan recently teased will most likely be the A05 PHEV sedan. Part of the brand's Nevo sub-brand, the A05 measures 4785mm long, 1840mm wide, 1460mm tall, and has a 2765mm wheelbase. This puts the A05 directly against the likes of the BYD Seal 5. More importantly, the A05 gets a single electric motor that's powered by a high-capacity lithium-iron phosphate battery and a 1.5L naturally-aspirated engine that serves as an onboard generator.
The electric motor is available in two states of (electric) tune – 190 PS with 330 Nm of torque and 214 PS with 330 Nm of pull. The base variant comes with a 9.07 kWh battery pack which gives it an electric range of up to 55 km based on the WLTC cycle. Meanwhile, the range-topping version gets a bigger 18.99 kWh which gives the A05 a WLTC electric range of 115 km. With both a fully-charged battery and a full tank of gas, the A05 can travel up to 1,300 km (1,225 km in the base variant).
As far as amenities are concerned, we can expect the PH-spec Changan Nevo A05 to come with a high-tech, fully laden cabin. These include a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, climate control, a power sunroof, multiple drive modes, and intelligent voice command.
We're still a month away from this year's MIAS but it looks like we can expect plenty of surprises. With Changan looking to up its PHEV game, brands like BYD might want to watch their backs in the near future.
