First batch of Geely EX5 EM-I PHEV now in PH
Geely Philippines is about to join the lucrative plug-in hybrid (PHEV) market in the country. After launching the EX5 EV last year, the automaker will launch its PHEV twin, the EX5 EM-I.
The new PHEV has been confirmed to arrive within Q1 of this year as part of the brand's expanding electrified lineup. In fact, the first batch of the EX5 EM-I is now at local ports and customs areas, signaling that units have already entered the country ahead of its official reveal.

Once revealed, the Geely EX5 EM-I is expected to take on the likes of the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i and the Jaecoo 7 PHEV. In its home market, the EX5 EM-I has a 1.5L engine that mainly serves as a generator for the 18.4 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery pack, which powers an electric motor that delivers 218 PS and 262 Nm of torque. Heck, the DOE has already recognized the EX5 EM-I as a plug-in hybrid, which further signals the vehicle's upcoming debut.

The Philippine introduction of the EX5 EM-I is part of Geely's broader product roadmap following its transition to direct local operations. The company has indicated that additional new models across various segments and powertrain types are in the pipeline as it continues to strengthen its presence in the country.

With its official launch set to happen in Q1 of this year, expect the Geely EX5 EM-I to make its presence closer to its Philippine debut.
