Geely to launch EX5 EM-i in March 2026

2025 is the year where the Geely brand was relaunched under a direct subsidiary: Geely Motor Philippines. The Chinese brand looks to have spent the year getting a feel for what the Philippine market demands for mobility.

For next year, however, Geely PH is set to ramp up its model launch activities in a bid to regain its popularity in the market. One of those will be a crossover that’s set to take on the BYD Sealion 6 – that is the Geely EX5 EM-i.

We were able to get a glimpse of the model, and it looks exactly the same the current EX5 EV that’s already being offered by Geely in the country. The biggest change, though, is what’s underneath the hood.

The Geely EX5 EM-I will have a 1.5-liter engine that will mainly serve as a generator to charge an 18.4 kWh LFP battery which powers a single electric motor, forming the plug-in hybrid system.

In fact, the Geely EX5 EM-I is already recognized by the Department of Energy as a plug-in hybrid, and will be exempted from number coding once retail sales commence. Based on the document, the EX5’s PHEV system generates 218 PS and 262 Nm of torque from its electric motor.

Geely also claims a range of about 1000 km on a full tank of gas and a fully charged battery, something that BYD has proved to be doable with its DM-I models.

Likewise, expect the safety feature list to be packed to the brim as top range variants could get up to 13 ADAS features, and get things like a 540 degree camera, and 6 airbags.

As for its model launch, Geely could introduce the EX5 EM-I in the country by around March 2026.
