GAC to bring 3 more vehicles this year, have 35 dealerships before the end of 2024
To say that GAC Motor Philippines had a very busy 2023 is an understatement. Not only did they launch a wide array of vehicles, but they also opened plenty of new dealerships. In fact, just before 2023 came to a close, they already had a total of 20 locations nationwide.
For 2024, not only do they plan on expanding their market presence, but they also plan to launch more vehicles. Just before 2023 came to a close, GAC Motor Philippines distributor Astara announced that they would be launching a total of six vehicles for 2024. In Q1 of this year, they have already revealed the M8 luxury MPV and the M6 Pro family MPV.

For this year's Manila International Auto Show, GAC Motor PH has announced that they will be launching the Emkoo Hybrid. That leaves three mystery vehicles left for 2024. For now, the automaker is quiet on what they will be launching in the second half of 2024. However, based on what we saw (and driven) in Guangzhou last year, we may already have a good idea of what to expect.

One of the possible cars GAC Motor PH could bring later this year includes the Empow R – the sportier and more powerful version of the Empow sedan. It packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that generates 265 PS with 400 Nm of torque and is paired with a sports-tuned 8-speed automatic by Aisin.

Other possible vehicles that they could bring are the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions of the M8 and GS8 – the E9 and the ES9. Both vehicles are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and are assisted by an electric motor & battery pack. The result is a total system output of 372 PS and 630 Nm of torque. Both PHEVs can travel for over 1,000 km on a full tank of gas & fully charged battery and can cover over 100 km on pure electric power.

Another possibility is the brand's Aion lineup of EVs. In Guangzhou, we were able to test the Aion Y Plus crossover, the S Plus sedan, and the high-performance Hyper GT. These vehicles represent GAC's electric future and could signal the brand's entry into EVs in the Philippines should they bring it here.

As for the company's plans to increase its number of dealerships, GAC Motor PH is looking to have a total of 35 locations operating before 2024 ends. Currently, they have 26 dealerships operating in the country and they are looking to open 9 more locations later this year.

With the GAC Emkoo Hybrid set to make its big debut tomorrow at MIAS 2024, we're hoping the automaker sheds more light as to what it will launch next in the coming months.
