GAC Motor PH launches the M8 luxury MPV
After giving us a glimpse of its new luxury MPV just before the holidays last year, GAC Motor distributor Astara Philippines has officially revealed the 2024 M8. Serving as the brand’s latest premium 7-seater MPV, the M8 marks GAC Motor PH’s evolving lineup at the start of the New Year.

With an emphasis on making a statement wherever it goes, the GAC M8 features a striking yet elegant exterior design. The front fascia is dominated by a massive grille with vertical slats that reach to the bumper. It also gets sharp LED headlights with automatic height adjustments as well as L-shaped LED daytime running lights that also serve as its LED turn signals.
Towards the side, the M8 features an almost monolithic profile that highlights the MPV’s distinct silhouette. It also gets neat chrome accents on the side which further exude the M8’s luxury pedigree. Last but not least are the 18-inch alloy wheels that come with a Master-specific design.

Like the front fascia, the rear end makes a bold statement with its stylish LED taillights that mirror the L-shaped motif first seen at the front. In terms of size, the M8 luxury MPV measures 5212mm long, 1893mm wide, 1823mm tall, and has a 3070mm wheelbase.
Hop inside and the M8 greets occupants into a lounge-like interior complete with high-tech gizmos. For starters, the dashboard gets a pair of high-resolution displays. The digital instrument cluster measures 12.3 inches while the touchscreen infotainment is available with either a 10.1-inch screen or a bigger 14.6-inch display for the high-end version. Despite the size difference, both screen sizes support Apple CarPlay along with Bluetooth connectivity.

Both variants also come with an 8-speaker sound system, a host of USB Type-A (and Type-C) charging ports, power-adjustable front seats with heating & cooling functions, a tri-zone climate control, and a 12V power socket at the front. On higher-grade models, the M8 is available with a wireless charging pad and a navigation system.
Climb aboard the second row and passengers are treated to a wide array of features and creature comforts. All models come with captain seats that are complemented by power-adjustable backrests & leg rests, ventilated & heated captain seats with a massage function, adjustable headrests, and multi-color ambient lighting. On higher-grade versions, the captain seats can be adjusted forward & aft electronically as well as support memory function. If those are not enough, the central armrest on the second row comes with integrated cupholders with heating or cooling functions to boot.

Other exclusive features on the GX variant of the M8 include PM 2.5 sensors, a fragrance system that freshens up the cabin, soundproof glass, a panoramic sunroof with a starlight decoration, and a power tailgate.
For extra peace of mind while on the road, the GAC M8 is packed to the brim with intelligent driver aids like intelligent cruise control (AKA adaptive cruise control), blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking with forward collision warning, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Other safety systems like a 360-degree camera system, automatic parking assist, a door open warning, and rear-cross traffic alert are also available in the M8.

Powering the GAC M8 is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It makes 252 PS at 5250 rpm along with a meaty 400 Nm of torque between 1750 - 4000 rpm. If those look & sound familiar, that’s because it’s the same engine that can be found in the GS8 7-seater SUV.
