Jetour Auto PH gets clearance to bring a passenger vehicle with a 1997cc gas engine

Earlier this year, Jetour Auto International president Mr. Ke Chuandeng confirmed that the Philippine market will get the Zongheng G700 flagship SUV. This was officially announced by the executive during the launch of the T1 Lightning i-DM by Jetour Auto Philippines Inc. (JAPI) back in October. With that, we can expect JAPI to eventually launch the flagship plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV sometime in 2026.

While we have yet to see the official specifications, JAPI was recently given regulatory approval to bring a new passenger vehicle with an engine displacement of 1997cc, which translates to a 2.0L engine. Currently, the only vehicle from Jetour's lineup that's available with a 2.0L under the hood is the ICE version of the T2 (the T2 Lightning i-DM uses a smaller turbocharged 1.5L engine).

After cross-checking the displacement of the mystery vehicle from Jetour, it looks like the Zongheng G700 for the Philippine market will indeed get the 2.0L turbocharged engine, which also displaces 1997cc. Moreover, the mystery vehicle from Jetour has a reference weight of 3,300 kg, which is close to what the G700 weighs in other countries.

In other markets where the G700 is already available, the plug-in hybrid SUV has a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four that's assisted by a pair of electric motors and a 34.13 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery pack. This gives the G700 a total system output of 904 PS and 1,135 Nm of torque. On battery power alone, Jetour says the G700 can cover up to 100 km based on the WLTC cycle. Meanwhile, the total system range is rated at just under 1,400 km.

With the Jetour Zongheng G700 heading to the Philippines soon, we're hoping to find out more details and specifications about the upcoming plug-in hybrid SUV.
