Is 2026 the year of high-end BYDs for PH market?
There’s no doubt that BYD is one of the busiest car brands in the Philippines this year, as they continued their aggressive rollout of products, especially those with the Super DM-I technology.
For 2026, it looks like the automaker is intent on bringing some more models to the country. BYD has been given regulatory approval to bring in a new passenger vehicle with an engine displacement of 1997cc and a curb weight of over 3500 kg.

With BYD usually reserving its bigger engines for its bigger models, our crystal ball says this could be the Yangwang U8. Yup, it could be the BYD full-size SUV that could do 360-degree tank turns and float on water.
The Yangwang U8 is one of BYD’s most high-tech models, combining off-road capability in the e4 platform and luxury amenities such as large triple screens, augmented heads-up displays, and up to 22 speakers inside.
The 2.0-liter turbo engine of the Yangwang U8 actually acts as a range extender. It charges a 49.05 kWh battery, which powers four 299 PS electric motors to produce a total output of 1,196 PS, hence the heft of the SUV.

All-electric range is around 180 km, while maximum range is listed as 1,000 km with a full 75-liter tank and full battery on the CLTC cycle.
Considering the pace of BYD when it comes to product rollout, there’s good reason to expect an early launch date for the Yangwang U8. As for the pricing, however, expect it to pull quite a premium compared to the rest of the current lineup of BYD in the country.
