BAIC B40e Trailmaster rEV all set for MIAS 2026

BAIC PH to bring the electrified B40e Trailmaster rEV at this year’s MIAS

BAIC Philippines distributor United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) is getting ready for the 2026 Manila International Auto Show with one heck of a vehicle. Set to make its presence felt at World Trade Center Manila next week is the BAIC B40e Trailmaster rEV, and from its namesake, it will serve as the electrified version of the B40 Trailmaster that was launched last year.

Unlike the regular B40 Trailmaster, which is powered by a turbo-diesel engine, the B40e Trailmaster rEV will be a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV). This means it will likely come with dual electric motors for 4WD capability and an onboard generator. This also means the B40e Trailmaster could have a similar powertrain to the B60e Beaumont rEV, which was launched last year at the 2025 MIAS.

Official specifications have yet to be revealed by BAIC Philippines. However, a quick look at what other markets get has given us an idea of what to expect. Under the hood, the PH-spec B40e could get a 1.5L turbocharged engine that will serve as a generator for the onboard 40.3 kWh battery pack. This then powers a pair of electric motors that provide 4WD capability. 

Output figures are not yet available, but it will most likely make the same amount of power as the ones sold in China. That means it could generate over 540 PS and more than 650 Nm of torque. Since it’s an REEV, BAIC claims that on a full charge, the frame-based B40e can cover more than 150 km and will likely have more than 1,100 km of combined range.

Design-wise, the BAIC B40e Trailmaster rEV looks just like the diesel-powered B40 Trailmaster. From the boxy exterior to the huge 20-inch alloy wheels, as well as the retractable step boards, the B40e looks similar to the regular B40. It also has distinct LED headlights, vertical LED taillights, a Defender-like profile, and a rear spare tire carrier.

With MIAS 2026 all set for next week, expect the BAIC B40e Trailmaster rEV to make its presence felt at the annual auto show.
