Perfect five stars for the Xforce

Mitsubishi wants to prove it’s a force to be reckoned with in the crossover market with the all-new Xforce. But now, the very same product has also demonstrated it can handle blunt force and keep its occupants safe in the event of an accident.

The all-new Xforce has been given a five-star rating for safety in the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP). It's the second Mitsubishi model to undergo the more stringent 2021-2025 assessment protocol that covers four assessment domains - the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) which covers 40 points of the overall score, and Child Occupant Protection (COP), Safety Assist (SA) and Motorcyclist Safety (MS) that contributes 20 points each.

In terms of AOP which is composed of frontal impact, side-impact, and head protection technology, the all-new Xforce scored 34.89 out of a possible 40 points.

Meanwhile, for child occupant protection, the all-new Xforce scored 17.03 out of 20 as it impressed in the dynamic tests, plus the child restraint and detection systems.

Safety features that include advanced driver assist systems enabled the all-new Xforce to score 14.85 out of 20 in the criteria for standard safety assists, where effective braking and avoidance, seatbelt reminders, autonomous emergency braking, and advanced safety assist technologies were assessed.

Lastly, motorcycle safety assessments considered things like blind spot monitoring and auto high beam equipment for the Xforce. This is where the crossover garnered 12.39 out of a possible 20 points.

Overall, the Xforce got a total score of 79.15 points which is enough to get a 5-star rating.
