When you hear the words ‘Dunlop Bridge,’ you know exactly what and where it is

For any motorsport fan who follows the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Dunlop Bridge is far more than a section of the racetrack; it is an enduring symbol of the race itself.

Countless race cars have roared beneath its arch with unforgettable battles serving as the backdrop for some of endurance racing’s most iconic images. From the thunder of engines to the quiet moments between races, the bridge has seen it all, standing as a silent guardian over the Circuit de la Sarthe.

First appearing in 1923, the bridge became a distinctive tire-shaped landmark in 1930 and has remained an iconic feature ever since. The current version has crowned the Dunlop Curve since 1965. Now, that familiar landmark is set to evolve. The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) and Goodyear have announced plans to replace the historic Dunlop Bridge with a modern spectator structure featuring Goodyear branding, closing a storied chapter while opening a new era for the world’s greatest endurance race.

Ahead of the 94th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the ACO and Goodyear also revealed a full renovation of the Goodyear Racing Club at the end of the pit straight, and upgrades to the Goodyear Grandstand next to the 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum, ensuring fans enjoy improved views and facilities across the circuit. This change comes after the January 2025 sale of the Dunlop brand in Europe, North America, and Oceania from Goodyear to Sumitomo Rubber Industries, consolidating Dunlop as a global brand.

To honor the bridge’s legacy, which has been part of every Le Mans since the inaugural 1923 race, the ACO and Goodyear will donate a heritage collection of Dunlop Bridge memorabilia to the 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum, ensuring that its memory endures for generations to come.

The enhanced presence of our brand at the circuit reflects our commitment to innovation and our enduring passion for racing.”
