GWM Wey Gaoshan PHEV spotted in PH roads
Last April’s Manila International Auto Show was an important launchpad for GWM and its plans for the Philippine market. They officially launched the Ora 03 EV, and previewed some of their upcoming models.
But since then, we haven’t been seeing many activities from GWM – until now. An avid reader who wished for anonymity has sent to us photos of GWM’s plug-in hybrid luxury MPV, the Wey Gaoshan. It was spotted along a major road somewhere south of Metro Manila.

If we recall, the GWM Wey Gaoshan PHEV is the brand’s answer to the likes of the GAC M8 and the Toyota Alphard. The luxury MPV was spotted with a black paint job and appears to be longer than the model that GWM previewed back in MIAS. If we’re right about this one, this could be the long wheelbase version that GWM also offers in other markets.
The Wey Gaoshan PHEV’s powertrain consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, putting out a combined system output of 480 PS and 762 Nm of torque. It also features the Hi-4T four-wheel-drive technology found in models like the Tank 700 and the Haval Menglong.

Furthermore, the 39.48 kWh battery gives the Wey Gaoshan PHEV an all-electric range of 140 km using the WLTC cycle.
As of now, GWM Philippines is yet to announce when will retail sales commence for the Wey Gaoshan PHEV. But hopefully, they get to launch it soon.
