X-Trail e-Power shaping up as the 4th Nissan new model launches this year
Nissan Philippines is busy preparing its new model launches for 2026.
Two of those will come from China with the Frontier Pro PHEV and the N7 BEV, while the new Kicks e-Power that was recently launched at the Bangkok International Motor Show is also coming to the Philippines soon.
The fourth new model, on the other hand, we’re starting to see a clearer picture. We had a look at the Department of Energy’s (DOE) list of recognized electrified vehicles recently, and found that the Nissan X-Trail e-Power is now on the HEV list.

The model was previewed in the country back in PIMS 2024, and its most recent appearance in the country was back in February's Nissan Festival.

Lately, the electrified compact crossover was updated in markets such as Japan and Europe, but during our latest trip to Thailand, the X-Trail was still in the pre-updated version there. The Philippines is shaping up to be its next destination, as regulatory approval for the vehicle has also been secured by Nissan Philippines.

Interestingly, the X-Trail variant that made the DOE list comes in the 2WD version, which comes with a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder turbo engine serving as a generator for the 1.75 kWh onboard battery. The 2WD version puts out 204 PS and 330 Nm of torque sent to the front wheels.
It remains to be seen if Nissan will offer the AWD version with the e-4ORCE powertrain for the X-Trail, and if we're getting the new facelifted version. Its other segment rivals from Japanese brands like the Toyota RAV4 HEV, the Honda CR-V e:HEV, and the Subaru Forester e-Boxer Hybrid are all now being offered in the country with all-wheel-drive powertrains.

Whatever the case may be, it would be great to see Nissan back in the compact crossover SUV segment again with the X-Trail.
