Mitsubishi PH recalls over 400 L300 units due to transmission issue

A total of 411 Mitsubishi L300 units are part of the recall

The evergreen Mitsubishi L300 has always been regarded for its durability, reliability, and sheer toughness. Since it was first released in the 1980s, the work van has undergone very minimal changes, with the most recent in 2019 when Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) launched an improved version of the L300 that's now powered by a Euro4-compliant turbo-diesel engine.

Despite its reputation for having “bulletproof reliability”, MMPC recently issued a recall affecting the L300. According to a recent announcement, MMPC will initiate a recall on several L300 units due to a transmission issue. The recall was done following the directives issued by MMPC's principal company, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC).

A total of 411 Mitsubishi L300 units for the 2024 model year are part of the said recall which can experience a hard gear shift if the transmission is not filled with oil. Should the affected L300's transmission not be lubricated with oil, Mitsubishi will replace the transmission, propeller shaft, and snap pin free of charge which will take around 4 hours to complete.

Alternatively, should the transmission be filled with oil, Mitsubishi will tighten the oil inspection cap with a filler plug along with a new gasket. As of this writing, only one L300 unit was reported to have a transmission failure.

Customers will be contacted by Mitsubishi dealers responsible for the sale of the affected L300 units to arrange a schedule for the inspection and/or replacement of the affected parts or impacted components.
