BYD Atto 3 to get subtle updates for 2025 model year refresh

The BYD Atto 3 may still be relatively new in the Philippine market since it only arrived in the country back in late 2023. In reality, however, the Atto 3 has been on sale in the PRC since early 2022. With the electric crossover already gaining some years, it looks like BYD is set to reveal a refreshed version of the compact EV.

Based on pictures released by the PRC’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), we’re currently looking at the 2025 BYD Atto 3 facelift. Much like the refreshed Dolphin which is set to make its debut later this year, BYD decided to go for the ‘less is more’ approach in updating the Atto 3.

Upon first glance, the changes on the exterior appear to be minimal at best. It still gets the same LED headlights and metal grille but the front bumper has been redesigned to feature a more aggressive design. The rear has also been slightly updated as it now gets a rear bumper that mimics the look of the front.

The LED taillights appear to also have been carried over although they now have a different LED tube design for the 2025 model year update. If anything, the LED taillights appear to resemble the design found in the facelifted Dolphin. The tailgate-mounted spoiler was also given attention as it now comes with a new third brake light with a dual-light design.

The side profile relatively remains the same as well for the Atto 3. However, we did notice that some of the faux metal accents on the C-pillar have been replaced with blacked-out trim pieces. Also worth mentioning are the new alloy wheels which feature a more aerodynamic design than before.

Powertrain-wise, the Atto 3 is expected to carry over the single electric motor that drives the front wheels. It makes 204 PS with 310 Nm of torque and can be paired with either a 49.92 kWh or a 60.48 kWh Blade battery. The former gives the Atto 3 a range of up to 410 km while the latter delivers up to 480 km of range on a full charge.

With both the Dolphin and Atto 3 set to receive updates, we could probably expect BYD Cars Philippines to launch them either later this year or perhaps in 2026. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that they’ll be able to launch them in 2025.
