Yes, the Patrol Y63 will have a NISMO variant
It’s been about a month since we reviewed the Nissan Z, and we can’t help but rave about how the NISMO treatment has completely transformed its performance. Now it makes us more curious about what wonders NISMO would do on an SUV like the Nissan Patrol.
In fact, there was a NISMO version of the Y62 launched in 2021, but sadly, it was only exclusive to the Middle East. But now that the Y63 is around, perhaps then we could get our hopes up on this Nismo version to be offered in the country.
Leaked photos of the Nissan Patrol Y63 NISMO have surfaced, and the SUV does stir up quite an aggressive appeal wearing the signature NISMO colors.

The Patrol Y63 NISMO appears to be bound for delivery to Middle East dealers, as the wheels are still covered in a plastic scratch-resistant cover. The front grille gets a new honeycomb mesh pattern that blends with the side intakes that house the fog lamps, while the front bumper looks sharper with the signature red trim finish on its chin splitter.

That signature NISMO design detail also makes its way to the stepboards, and all the way to the rear of the SUV, where the bumper’s diffuser-style element gets a combination of chrome, gloss black, and red. To top it off, NISMO badges are found at the front, sides, and rear to indicate a more road-focused Patrol.

Inside, the tan interior of the Y63 has been replaced with black and red. The leaked interior photo also shows the dashboard wrapped with Alcantara upholstery. Like the Z NISMO, the Patrol Y63 NISMO gets a 12 o’clock marker on the steering wheel.
With the V6T present on the lower part of the front doors, the Patrol Y63 NISMO appears to still have the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 under its hood. But considering the Y62’s NISMO version had its power bumped up, we could also expect the same with the Y63.

Other things we could expect from the Patrol Y63 NISMO include Bilstein suspension, better brakes, and lighter wheels to spruce up its on-road performance, just like the Y62.
The Philippines is Nissan’s second biggest market for the Patrol, which rather leaves us optimistic that we could get dibs on the NISMO version. Fingers crossed.
