Kia PH refines lineup to better align with Filipino customers, drops EV6

Kia Philippines distributor ACMobility has been making some noise recently with the upcoming EV5. Just last week, the automaker held the Kia Movement at Alabang Town Center and allowed customers to test drive the soon-to-be-launched Kia EV5. With a range of up to 550 km on a single charge, the EV5 is set to become one of Kia's premier offerings in the electrified market.

But where does this leave the EV6, which first arrived in the country back in 2023? Well, Kia Philippines has quietly axed the EV6 from the lineup. We noticed this when we happened to check the brand's Philippine website and saw that the EV6 is no longer available.

We asked Kia Philippines regarding this, and they sent a statement, which you can read below.

“Following a market evaluation, Kia Philippines continues to refine its local vehicle lineup to better align with the evolving needs of Filipino customers.

As we listen to our consumers and observe growing interest in electric compact SUVs, Kia Philippines is optimizing its EV offerings with the upcoming introduction of the Kia EV5. Positioned competitively within the compact SUV segment, the EV5 combines advanced technology with a modern and stylish design. Powered by an 88.1 kWh battery and offering a driving range of up to 550 km on a full charge, it is well-suited for both daily commutes and longer journeys.

Kia Philippines remains committed to supporting customers throughout their ownership journey. All Kia vehicles continue to be backed by a comprehensive warranty and a nationwide after-sales network, with full service support and parts availability across all authorized dealerships.”

Based on this, the decision to drop the EV6 was made after Kia Philippines reevaluated its lineup to better align with the evolving needs of Filipino customers. With the EV5 set to serve as Kia's newest electric compact SUV, it wouldn't make sense for the brand to offer both the EV5 and EV6 in the same segment.

Another likely reason the EV6 was dropped by Kia was low sales. When it first debuted in the country, it had a sticker price of PHP 3.788 million, which made it quite expensive compared to other similarly-sized EVs in the segment. When Hyundai Motor Philippines launched the Ioniq 5 in 2023, it started at PHP 3.068 million, greatly undercutting the Kia EV6.

With the Kia EV6 no longer on sale in the Philippines, it looks like we won't be getting the refreshed version that comes with a longer range.
