2025 Kia EV6 unveiled

Recently, the award-winning Hyundai Ioniq 5 was given an update. Now it’s the turn of its cousin, the EV6.

Kia has unveiled the updated EV6 in South Korea, receiving a facelift, various interior modifications, and a new battery that gives the vehicle a longer range.

The most significant change to the exterior is seen on the front fascia. Kia has replaced the conventional headlights of the EV6 and now features slim LED DRLs and headlights that put it closer to the ones seen on the EV5 and EV9. Likewise, the front bumper has also been revised to complement the EV6’s sharper look.

The rest of the body remains unchanged but for both standard and GT-Line variants, the 2025 Kia EV6 rolls on a new set of wheels available in 19 and 20-inch sizes.

Inside, the Kia EV6 also features a new curved panoramic screen that houses the digital instrument cluster and infotainment display. The Kia logo has been aligned to the right for the new steering wheel, and there’s now a fingerprint scanner that allows owners to start the vehicle even without the key. The infotainment system now also comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for easier pairing of mobile devices.

Other new features include a digital rearview mirror, an improved heads-up display, and OTA (over-the-air) updates for the EV’s control systems.

Much like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Kia EV6’s 77.4 kWh battery has been replaced with the new 84 kWh unit. With the increased capacity, Kia claims the new standard rear-wheel-drive EV6 with 19-inch wheels can now drive up to 494 km on a single charge, compared to 475 in the outgoing model. In terms of charging, the bigger battery supports 350 kW DC fast charging to top up the batteries from 10 to 80% SOC in just 18 minutes.

As before, the standard single motor rear-wheel-drive models produce 229 PS and 350 Nm of torque, while the dual motor versions produce 325 PS and 605 Nm but Kia claims improvements have been made to make the motor quieter. In terms of ride refinement, Kia says the new EV6 has tweaked dampers for better ride comfort along with some body reinforcements to improve safety.

Kia will roll out the updated EV6 in Korea next month while other markets should follow throughout the rest of the year.
