Toyota Land Cruiser FJ revealed ahead of 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show
After making its global debut at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show (JMS) and being confirmed for the Philippine market by Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), the Land Cruiser FJ has officially made its debut in Southeast Asia.
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ not only serves as a successor to the FJ Cruiser but is now the new gateway model to the Land Cruiser range. Its boxy design is a direct nod to the original “BJ” series of the first-generation Land Cruiser and is built on the IMV body-on-frame platform that is shared with the likes of the Fortuner and Hilux.

It has short overhangs, a relatively short 2580mm wheelbase, and a 5.5-meter turning radius, which give the Land Cruiser FJ significant 4x4 capabilities. It also has black body cladding, flared wheel arches, 18-inch alloy wheels, and front & rear skid plates that further highlight the Land Cruiser FJ's off-road abilities. Design-wise, the boxy upright profile, the classic “TOYOTA” lettering on the front grille, and the eye-catching headlights & daytime running lights all serve as a throwback to the classic Land Cruisers of yesteryear.
In terms of size, the Land Cruiser FJ measures 4610mm long, 1855mm wide, and 1890mm tall. It also has a minimum ground clearance of 245mm, which translates to better off-road capability when going over rough terrain.

Under the hood is a 2.7L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine called the 2TR-FE. For those in the know, this is the same engine that used to be available for the gas-powered Fortuner and Hilux models in the Philippines. The 2TR-FE makes 166 PS at 5200 rpm with 245 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm and benefits from Dual VVT-i. Power is then transferred to a 6-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift, a part-time 4WD system (4WD-High, 4WD-Low, and 2WD) with a rear differential lock, and a limited-slip differential.

When it comes to its suspension, the Land Cruiser FJ has double wishbones at the front and a four-link system in the back. Its tires measure 265/60 series and have a rear spare tire carrier in the back, just like old school 4x4 SUVs.

Hop inside, and the 2026 Land Cruiser FJ welcomes occupants into a cabin that they claim is familiar & easy to drive on various conditions and minimizes distractions. Thanks to the ergonomic and no-frills design, everything inside feels ergonomic and familiar to use. From the 4WD panel beside the gear selector to the center stack that houses the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system & climate control, as well as the 7-inch digital multi-info display and leather-wrapped steering wheel, Toyota made sure the Land Cruiser FJ's cabin is functional yet comfortable.

Standard amenities available inside the Land Cruiser FJ include Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, push-button start, a 6-speaker sound system, USB-C and 12V charging ports, dual-zone climate control, a power-adjustable driver's seat, 55:45 split rear seats, and leather upholstery. It also has a blind-spot monitoring system, a 360-degree panoramic view monitor, and a host of airbags (front, front side, side curtain, and driver's knee).

The 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ starts at THB 1.269M or PHP 2.312 million when converted. That means we can expect the Land Cruiser FJ to start at around PHP 2.4 million and above once it arrives here. Based on regulatory approval, the PH-spec Land Cruiser FJ will be powered by the same 2.7L 2TR-FE gasoline engine. However, a turbo-diesel version is expected to be available based on a prototype sighting earlier this year. Perhaps the diesel version may likely get the 2.4L 2GD-FTV turbo-diesel derived from the Hilux and Fortuner models.

With the Land Cruiser FJ now in the country, we won't be surprised if Toyota Motor Philippines launches it later this year, perhaps at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed that our hunch is right.
