JAC Motors PH has received regulatory approval for a light-duty vehicle with a 1999cc engine

Earlier this year, Astara Philippines officially announced that they are the new distributor and importer of JAC Motors in the country. With it, JAC Motors now serves as the company’s fourth automotive brand besides Peugeot, GAC, and JMC.

The company did not say what models they will be bringing although they mentioned that they will bring electrified vehicles and perhaps commercial vehicles, too. After more than a month of their announcement, we were able to get new information about one of the possible vehicles JAC Motors could launch soon.

Recently, we received information that JAC Motors already has government regulatory approval for a light-duty vehicle that is powered by a 1999cc turbo-diesel engine which translates to a 2.0-liter unit. It also has a mass reference weight of around 2155 kg. After double-checking and cross-referencing the numbers and the approval itself, it looks like JAC Motors Philippines is already making preparations to launch the T9 pickup truck.

Based on the global specs, the JAC Motors T9 pickup truck gets a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-four that puts out 170 PS at 3600 rpm and 410 Nm of torque between 1500 - 2500 rpm. Power is then sent to an 8-speed automatic gearbox which is available with 4WD along with a rear differential lock for extra grip. Size-wise, the pickup truck measures 5330mm long, 1965mm wide, 1920mm tall, and has a 3110mm wheelbase.

The bed, meanwhile, measures 1520mm long, 1590mm wide, and 470mm tall. It also has a payload capacity of 1,000 kg which means it can haul plenty of cargo. When it comes to features, it’s available with LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, a power sunroof, a full leather interior, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, a 220V power outlet, and even a wireless charging pad.

JAC Motors Philippines has yet to say if they will be actually bringing the T9 to the country. But given that they have already received regulatory approval, it looks like it will be a matter of when and not if.
