Hyundai officially unveils Concept THREE at 2025 IAA Mobility Show

After releasing a design sketch of its upcoming concept, Hyundai has officially arrived at the 2025 IAA Mobility Show and revealed the Concept Three.

Billed by the automaker as the first-ever compact EV under the Ioniq brand, the Concept THREE is essentially our best look yet at the upcoming Ioniq 3. Not only does it represent Hyundai's next step in its electrification journey, but it also highlights the brand's expansion into new vehicle categories, as well as the future design direction of Hyundai and Ioniq as a whole.

Starting with its design, the Concept THREE features the “Art of Steel” design language, which was inspired by Hyundai's advanced steel technologies. With its flowing lines and sculpted profile, the Concept THREE's design gives the vehicle a hot hatch-like appearance. It also features the Aero Hatch, which consists of intersecting lines that add visual tension to the vehicle. The hatch also provides a distinct roofline and aerodynamic efficiency that runs all the way to the tailgate.

Also worth mentioning is the Parametric Pixel lighting, which is featured in both the front and rear of the Concept THREE. The result is a more expressive-looking vehicle that adds depth to the overall design. Last but not least is the anodized-effect finish on the exterior of the Concept THREE, which further accentuates the Art of Steel design language. Add the lemon-tinted glass and the lemon accents on the large alloy wheels, and the Concept THREE stands out from other vehicles on the road.

Size-wise, the Concept THREE measures 4287mm long, 1940mm wide, 1428mm tall, and has a 2722mm wheelbase.

Open the doors, and the Concept THREE welcomes occupants into a lounge-like cabin that's brimming with tech. While we won't expect the concept's interior to be carried over to the production model, we cannot help but be impressed by Hyundai's attention to detail. From the vibrant interior to the high-resolution displays, as well as the LED ambient lighting, the Concept THREE's cabin is both cozy and inviting.

In keeping with Hyundai's commitment to sustainability, the interior of the concept makes use of sustainable materials like ocean waste textiles and lightweight aluminum foam. With no materials going to waste, Hyundai is committed to reducing its environmental impact when making cars.

Hyundai has yet to say what the Concept THREE previews, but given its size, weight, and name, the concept will most likely be an electric hatchback that will slot below the Ioniq 5. We also cannot help but notice that the concept's design somewhat looks similar to the Veloster.

Could we see the Ioniq 3 become the spiritual successor of the Hyundai Veloster? Watch this space.
