Nissan pays tribute to Fairlady Z32 300ZX with latest Z Heritage Edition

Nissan may be experiencing dire straits as of late, but that hasn't stopped the Japanese automaker from releasing yet another special edition Z we can only wish to be offered here.

After launching the first Z Heritage Edition last year that pays homage to the first-generation 240Z (AKA Datsun 240Z), Nissan has revealed the new Z Heritage Edition for the 2026 model year. Unlike last year's tribute, the latest Nissan Z Heritage Edition is a throwback to the fourth-generation Z32 300ZX.

Immediately catching your attention on the 2026 Z Heritage Edition are the Midnight Purple paint job and the 19-inch RAYS alloy wheels finished in bronze. Not only does the look evoke the 90s, but the Midnight Purple hue is a classic paint finish that's a hallmark not just for Nissan but also for the GT-R nameplate.

Apart from those, the 2026 Z Heritage Edition also comes with a retro-styled “Twin Turbo” badge, bronze “Twin Turbo” decals on the doors, and a carbon fiber rear spoiler. Would-be owners will also appreciate the unique door sill plates and special floor mats that both feature the “Z Heritage Edition” lettering.

Combined with the all-new Nissan Z's retro styling that combines all of the design cues of past generations, you get a sleek and dynamic coupe that pays homage to the Nissan Zs of yesteryear.

The 2026 Nissan Z Heritage Edition is only available in the Z Performance version. This means it still gets a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 that generates 405 PS and 475 Nm of torque, but gets some nifty upgrades. These include a mechanical limited-slip differential (LSD), 19-inch RAYS alloy wheels with Bridgestone Potenza S007 and Nissan Performance brakes. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic.

In terms of amenities, the Z Performance Edition is equipped with the following as standard: an 8-speaker Bose sound system, aluminum sport pedals, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, & Nissan Connect Services with Wi-Fi, heated side mirrors, and heated power-adjustable leather seats.

Like the previous version, the 2026 Nissan Z Heritage Edition is only being offered in North America, which means tough luck for us living across the Pacific Ocean. However, owners of the Z could transform their vehicle to look just like the latest Z Heritage Edition should they want to.
