LTO releases new homologation for MG D90 Rakan 7-seater turbo-diesel SUV
Remember when MG Motor Philippines previewed a turbo-diesel 7-seater SUV at last year's Manila International Auto Show (MIAS)? Called the D90, the frame-based turbo-diesel SUV comes with three rows of seats and is even available with captain seats. Once launched, it will serve as MG's answer to the likes of the Ford Everest, Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu mu-X, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, and Nissan Terra.

Fast forward just before the 2026 MIAS, and it looks like MG Motor Philippines could finally be revealing the D90 for the Philippine market. This comes after the Land Transportation Office (LTO) recently approved several variants of the MG D90.
Unlike last year's homologation documents, wherein the brand approved two variants of the D90 (Com and Lux), it looks like MG decided to switch things up just before the big reveal. Based on newly released memorandum circulars, the MG D90 will be available in the Executive and Flagship models, with the latter being available as a 7-seater or as a 6-seater with captain seats.

More importantly, the full name of the upcoming SUV will be the MG D90 Rakan, which is what the SUV is called in the Middle East.
All of the MG D90 variants measure 5046mm long, 2016mm wide, and 1876mm tall. All of the models also have a 2950mm wheelbase and up to 332mm of ground clearance. The Executive version comes with 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 265/50 series tires, while the Flagship models are equipped with 20-inch alloys with 265/50 series tires.

Under the hood, the MG D90 Rakan is powered by a 1996cc (2.0L) turbo-diesel engine, which is likely shared with the MG TRQ L pickup truck. However, the 2.0L under the hood of the D90 Rakan could be offered with a pair of turbos, which means it may produce up to 215 PS with 500 Nm of torque. Power will then be transferred to an 8-speed automatic transmission with 4WD.

With the MG D90 Rakan already approved by the LTO and MIAS 2026, all set for next week, perhaps the automaker will hold its official debut at the World Trade Center on April 9.
