Land Cruiser FJ’s 2.7 gas engine has been approved in PH
In case you haven’t heard yet, Toyota Motor Philippines already made an early announcement about its vehicle launches for the year. It will consist of the Urban Cruiser, the RAV4, the LC300 hybrid, the Hilux, and the much-awaited Land Cruiser FJ.
With the country’s leading automaker looking to hit the ground running early, more developments are now coming out from our publicly available sources of information.
Toyota Motor Philippines has already received regulatory approval for a passenger vehicle powered by a gasoline engine with a displacement of 2694cc, or equivalent to 2.7 liters. Much to our surprise, we did not have to wonder which vehicle it was, as the reference mass already has the model code indicated, which reads TRJ240 – TR as the engine code, while the J is the series code.

With the Land Cruiser FJ given the J240 chassis code, that only means Toyota applied for regulatory approval with the FJ having the 2.7-liter 2TR-FE gasoline engine. That makes 163 PS and 246 Nm of torque, and comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission driving the part-time 4WD system.
While there was a spotting of a turbodiesel Land Cruiser FJ in Thailand recently, that model seems to still be in a developmental phase. The gas version that made its global reveal in the 2025 Japan Mobility Show is the one that’s ready for rollout.
The key takeaway here is that Toyota Motor Philippines is not wasting any time in rolling out new models this year. They already gave a sneak peek of the Urban Cruiser at a recent event, while the all-new RAV4 is already being given as a prize in a golf tournament.
With the approval already in place, there’s already a chance we could see the Land Cruiser FJ by the time the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) comes around in June.
