911 Turbo S Hybrid debuts at IAA Mobility Show 2025

Last year, Porsche gave the world the first-ever 911 with a hybrid powertrain in the Carrera GTS. Now, Stuttgart has taken the same technology to push more performance out of its all-rounder – the 911 Turbo S.

Making its debut at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich is the new Porsche 911 Turbo S. The main talking point? The top-of-the-line model in the standard 911 lineup is now putting down a whopping 711 PS and 800 Nm of torque on all four wheels.

While the 911 GTS has one electric turbocharger in its hybrid power unit, the 3.6-liter flat-six in the 911 Turbo S has two eTurbos that combine with a 71 PS electric motor and a tiny 1.9 kWh battery pack. This not only reduces lag and improves responsiveness, but it also results in accessing that peak torque in a wide range – 2,300 to 6,000 rpm. Likewise, full power is achieved between 6,500 to 7,000 rpm, making the 911 Turbo S the most powerful 911 to date – even beating the race-bred GT2 RS.

The 8-speed PDK takes care of all the changing of cogs, along with Porsche Traction Management all-wheel-drive that puts the power down to the ground effectively. 0 to 100 km/h is now done in 2.5 seconds, and 8.4 seconds to reach 200 km/h. If your chest can still carry the grunt, the 911 Turbo S will reach a Vmax of 322 km/h.

Despite the addition of the hybrid hardware, the new 911 Turbo S weighs just 85 kg more than its predecessor – that’s like only adding an adult on your passenger seat. With such an increase in performance, the new 911 Turbo S laps the Nürburgring Nordschleife 14 seconds faster than its predecessor – doing a 7:03.92 lap on the Green Hell.

Aside from the increase in performance and stopping power, grip has likewise been enhanced for the new 911 Turbo S. The rear tires are 10mm wider (315 to 325mm), and the rear disc brake diameter has gone from 390 to 410mm. Bigger 420mm discs are also fitted in front, which means the 911 Turbo S has the largest brake system installed in a two-door Porsche.

There are a few but significant updates to the 992 body for the new 911 Turbo S. Those include active grille shutters in front and an active front diffuser to boost downforce. Visually, the new model is distinguished by the use of Turbonite – Porsche’s new brown/gray shade created for Turbo models. These are found in the exterior and interior elements, as well as the new center lock wheel.

As with other Porsches, the 911 Turbo S is highly customizable - from the choice of seats, to getting a matching chronograph watch, and even having carbon-fiber wipers.

The 911 Turbo S comes in both Coupe and Cabriolet flavors. For now, we’re left to admire the new 911 Turbo S from a distance as Porsche will start to roll out the model in global markets by 2026. That doesn’t mean we’re not getting it though; we’ll just have to wait for the announcement from Porsche Philippines.
