Tough Luck: Ford has issued 109 recalls from January to August 2025
Ford passes century mark in number of recalls issued by auto brand in a year
The blue oval brand, Ford, recently passed the century mark. The century mark is considered a milestone for companies and even people. Ford’s new century mark, however, is not one to be celebrated. They have surpassed 100 recalls for the first eight months of 2025, currently at 109, as of this writing.
Ford’s 109 recalls (yes, one hundred four; not the name of the recall) makes it the most recalled brand in 2025 and maybe even the most of all auto brands in a year. The recalls include popular nameplates like the F-150, Bronco, Explorer, Expedition, Mustang, Mustang Mach-E, and Ranger.
Recalls are not exactly a bad thing; it means the car manufacturer is owning up to parts, manufacturing process, or software that may have been found to be wrong or defective after a car was released. It is aimed at correcting the manufacturing process so it doesn’t happen again for new cars. Passing the century mark in just eight months may point to an even larger problem – consumer confidence.
“The increase in recalls reflects our intensive strategy to quickly find and fix hardware and software issues and go the extra mile to help protect customers. Ford has more than doubled its team of safety and technical experts in the past two years and significantly increased testing to failure on critical systems in current Ford vehicles, such as powertrains, steering, and braking. Insights from this testing are being incorporated into current production,” says Kumar Galhotra, Ford COO, in a recent blog post.
While “brand recall” is something of a wet dream for brands and their marketers, this is certainly not that kind.
As of last week, Ford’s 2025 recalls have covered nearly 7.9 million vehicles. Notably, some are even recalled for procedures they have performed improperly.
In the Philippines, Ford’s approach is rather quiet as they privately mail owners of potential issues with their vehicles and advise them to visit their nearest dealer.
