All-new Infiniti QX80 launches March 20, drops V8 power for twin-turbo V6
The sixth-generation Nissan Patrol has been with us for quite some time. First revealed in 2010, it has undergone several facelifts to keep it fresh and up-to-date against its competitors like the Toyota Land Cruiser. However, the Land Cruiser 300 is now in its latest generation which means the current Y62 Patrol is getting long in the tooth.
Perhaps we might not have to wait that much longer as Nissan's luxury brand Infiniti is gearing up to reveal the all-new QX80. But why the big buzz for the QX80 in the first place? Well, the QX80 is essentially the Patrol's more luxurious twin and it's set to be revealed on March 20. Once the covers are off, it will give us our best look at the all-new Nissan Patrol.

Back to the QX80, Infiniti has decided to drop some teaser images and new details of the upcoming luxury SUV ahead of its debut. First previewed by the QX Monograph concept shown last year, the all-new QX80 will feature a similar design language called “Artistry In Motion”. Despite the camouflage hiding most of the bodywork, it's quite apparent that the next-gen QX80 took direct inspiration from the QX Monograph concept.
From the eye-catching LED daytime running lights to the stylish LED taillights, the QX80 will be quite the looker. We have yet to see the vehicle in its entirety but we can expect the 2025 QX80 to be even bigger than the outgoing generation.

Don't expect a V8 under the hood of the 2025 QX80 as Infiniti said it will have a new VR35DDTT 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that cranks out 456 PS and 698 Nm of torque. This translates to an increase of 55 PS and an extra 138 Nm of pull over the naturally-aspirated V8. The V6 will then be paired with a new 9-speed automatic gearbox which replaces the old 7-speed automatic transmission.

With a claimed 40% wider gear ratio change, Infiniti says the 2025 QX80 will have better acceleration and more efficient highway cruising. The automaker also claimed that the new powertrain is expected to deliver improved acceleration and better fuel economy when compared to the V8.
Besides having a new V6 powertrain, Infiniti was also busy making changes in its chassis. There will be a new electronic air suspension system along with a Dynamic Digital Suspension system that will work in tandem with adaptive damping to improve overall ride quality. In addition, the air suspension automatically lowers when the vehicle is parked to make it easier to enter, load, or unload luggage.

With March 20 only a couple of weeks away, we'll be keeping a close eye on future updates regarding the launch of the 2025 Infiniti QX80. Hopefully, Nissan will follow suit with the reveal of the next-generation Patrol soon after.
