BYD officially launches refreshed Dolphin for 2025 model year

It wasn't too long ago when BYD revealed the updated Atto 3 for the 2025 model year. It gets a subtle refresh on the exterior along with an improved ADAS system courtesy of the brand's God's Eye technology.

Now, it's the turn of the brand's stylish hatchback to get an update. This is the 2025 BYD Dolphin, and it gets a subtle update inside and out along with upgraded intelligent driver aids. Just like the leak from December of last year, the electric hatchback gets a sleeker front end that looks similar to the updated Atto 3, particularly the more prominent front bumper.

The hatchback now also comes with more stylish LED headlights that feature a more angular design and an updated air curtain. Around the back, the LED taillights get a new wave-inspired design along with a new BYD logo which replaces the previous “Build Your Dreams” badging. Like the front bumper, the rear also gets a similar redesign for a sportier appearance. Last but not least, a new set of 17-inch wheels are now available for the 2025 Dolphin.

Open the doors and some might say the cabin looks relatively the same. However, the touchscreen infotainment is now bigger at 12.8-inches. Even the 5-inch digital instrument cluster has been replaced with a bigger 8.8-inch display with better resolution and graphics. Also getting a makeover is the gear selector dial which now comes with a column-mounted stalk ala Mercedes-Benz.

Other key upgrades available in the BYD Dolphin are a Qi wireless charging pad, a new steering wheel that appears to have been derived from the Seal EV, a redesigned center console, and new interior trim accents.

As before, the 2025 Dolphin continues to be powered by a single electric motor that's available in different states of tune. The base model makes 95 PS with 180 Nm of torque and is paired with a 45.12 kWh lithium-iron phosphate. On a full charge, BYD says the EV can travel up to 420 km based on the CLTC cycle.

The mid-range version gets a more powerful motor that produces 177 PS and 290 Nm of pull. The extra power, however, means a slight drop in range which translates to 410 km. Last but not least is the most powerful version which makes 210 PS and 310 Nm of torque. This variant gets a bigger battery pack rated at 60.48 kWh which translates to a range of up to 520 km.

Like the Atto 3, the 2025 Dolphin now gets the brand's God's Eye C intelligent driver aids. This gives the humble hatchback smart driving features such as autonomous driving, automated lane changing, avoiding obstacles, and memorizing one's routes.

With the 2025 Dolphin now available in the PRC, perhaps we might see it make its way to the Philippines later in the year.
