2024 Shelby Super Snake is a supercharged Mustang with over 840 PS

Shelby American unleashes the almighty 2024 Super Snake

Last week, Ford Philippines officially revealed the all-new 2024 Mustang. Now on its seventh generation, the ubiquitous pony car gets a sleek new look both inside and out and continues to be available with an all-American 5.0-liter V8 pushing 493 PS and 567 Nm of torque. For those that prefer something lighter but sportier, there's also the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-four that makes 319 PS and 475 Nm of torque. Both engines are then mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox.

All is well & good, but those who want more out of their S650 Mustang need not look further than Shelby American. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the 2024 Shelby Super Snake, and it's got more ponies under the hood than the regular 5.0-liter Coyote V8 makes.

Thanks to a Whipple supercharger feeding more air into the engine, the souped-up Super Snake generates well over 840 PS. No torque figures were mentioned but we're guessing it eclipses the standard 567 Nm of the non-supercharged Coyote V8. Besides having a supercharger, the Super Snake also gets a Shelby extreme cooling system, a Shelby Borla exhaust system, a short throw shifter (manual only), a one-piece driveshaft (also manual only), and performance half shafts. Customers can also choose if they want an automatic or manual transmission in the 2024 Super Snake.

The Super Snake also comes with a modified suspension system for better handling. According to Shelby American, the suspension has been tuned for sharper turn-ins as well as to keep the muscle car firmly planted on the pavement. Also upgraded were the brakes to allow the Super Snake to easily shave off speed.

To maximize the added power, Shelby American also put the 2024 Super Snake on a diet. It's fitted with a balanced aluminum hood, carbon fiber fenders, magnesium alloy wheels to reduce the rotating mass and deliver faster acceleration, and a carbon fiber wing that aids in delivering extra downforce. And in case you haven't noticed it yet, the 2024 Shelby Super Snake is available as a hardtop coupe or as a soft-top convertible.

“We set out to make the 2024 Ford Mustang the most technically sophisticated Shelby Super Snake in history. Through careful engineering, we were able to add much more power while working to keep the weight more balanced with a new aluminum hood and carbon fiber fenders that also redirect the wind for ultimate cooling. Our lightweight magnesium alloy wheels cut pounds off the rotating mass so you can run deeper into and accelerate faster out of the corner. The featherweight carbon fiber tail wing keeps the retuned suspension firmly planted,” said Vince La Violette, Shelby American Vice President of Operations and Senior Designer.

Inside, Shelby decked out the interior with embroidered floor mats, cobra puddle lamps, a Shelby shifter ball (manual only), Super Snake door sill plates, a convertible light bar (for droptops only), and a serialized dashboard plaque to remind everyone they're in something special.
