After opening the reservation books for its go-anywhere 4x4 SUV earlier this year, Ford Philippines has officially launched the Bronco. Revealed a month later after the debut of the all-new Mustang, the Bronco is set to take on the likes of the Jeep Wrangler and features a high-tech 4x4 system, a tech-laden cabin, retro-inspired looks, and an EcoBoost powertrain.
Beginning with the most obvious, the Bronco for the Philippine market is available in just one variant, the Outer Banks with the Sasquatch Package. That's right, this 4x4 is fitted with massive 35-inch mud-terrain tires (315/70/R17) wrapped in 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels. It also comes with high-clearance fender flares and a Carbonized Gray hardtop.
In keeping with its go-anywhere theme, the Bronco's roof and doors are removable which allows drivers to turn it into an open-air vehicle. Other exterior features worth mentioning include LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED foglights, a black grille with BRONCO lettering, and LED taillights.
Size-wise, the 2024 Bronco Outer Banks with the Sasquatch Package measures 4811mm long, 2190mm wide (with side mirrors), and 1854mm tall. It also has a 2950mm wheelbase, 292mm generous ground clearance, and an impressive 850mm water-wading capability.
Under the hood, the Bronco is powered by a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 that puts out 335 PS at 5750 rpm along with 555 Nm of torque at 3000 rpm. Power is then sent to a 10-speed automatic gearbox and an advanced 4x4 system with automatic on-demand engagement. It also comes with G.O.A.T. Modes which is short for Goes Over Any Terrain. This gives the vehicle an intelligent terrain management system that can be set to Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, and Sand.
Complementing the 4x4 system are front & rear locking differentials, the High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) system, and Bilstein position-sensitive dampers.
Hop aboard and the Bronco greets occupants into a sleek and feature-packed cabin. Immediately catching your attention is the massive 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display powered by the latest SYNC 4 system. It comes with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and the touchscreen also supports intelligent voice control and a premium 10-speaker Bose sound system with a subwoofer.
Besides the massive touchscreen is an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and a leather-wrapped steering wheel complete with the signature Bronco logo. Other key features present inside the Bronco include; power-adjustable front seats, a wireless phone charger, dual smart USB charging ports (Type C & Type A), 12V power outlets, a 220V power socket, dual-zone climate control, an electronic parking brake, keyless entry with push-button start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, 60:40 split rear seats, and FordPass Connect.
