If you just read our recently published annual vehicle sales feature, it will not be surprising to know that the top 10 comprises Toyota and Mitsubishi models; but we were quite surprised by the nameplate that placed on top.

It seems that Filipinos chose a more versatile family vehicle for the calendar year 2025, as the Mitsubishi Xpander emerged as the top choice for car buyers with 28,081 units sold. Its spacious interior and family-friendly features make it a popular choice for growing families, and the Xpander has consistently been the country’s best-selling MPV.

The consistently top-selling Toyota Vios subcompact sedan lost its commanding lead at 27,811 units sold. A stark contrast to its 43,636 unit sales for 2024. Despite not being the top seller, its reputation for reliability, fuel efficiency, and affordability still makes it a favored choice for a broad spectrum of consumers.

After making it back to our top 10 in 2024, the Toyota Avanza jumps 5 places up to 3rd in 2025, another popular MPV known for its affordability and practicality. It achieved a strong sales performance of 24,704 units.

The dependable Toyota Hilux slides down to fourth best-selling model with 23,819 units sold. The pickup segment was slapped with an excise tax by the government in the second half of 2025, pulling down sales volume from the once-popular pickup segment. However, the truck's robust build and versatility make it a favorite among businesses and individuals. This is a decline from the previous year’s 26,643 unit performance.

Also making a significant improvement was the Toyota Hiace, which jumped from 9th to 5th. The versatile van is favored by businesses and families for its passenger and cargo-hauling capabilities. It sold 20,526 units.

The Toyota Wigo slides one place down to sixth, a small hatchback that offers exceptional value for money. With 19,063 units sold, it attracts first-time car buyers and those looking for an economical city car. Despite ending a position down, it improved its performance from 18,103 units sold in 2024.

Also sliding down a place to seventh is the Toyota Raize, a subcompact SUV that captured the hearts of many Filipinos with its modern design and practicality. It achieved a commendable sales figure of  17,965 units. Sales of the Raize declined from its 18,024 figure in 2024.

Falling down to eighth place is the Mitsubishi Mirage G4, while still a strong contender from the subcompact sedan category, it only sold 17,757 units in 2025. The fuel-efficient engine and practical features failed to appeal to budget-conscious buyers. The Mirage dropped five places from third with 26,313 units the previous year to end up eighth.

Toyota is making serious noise with the Tamaraw, which was marketed in its first full year. It managed to knock the Mitsubishi L300, a stalwart in the commercial vehicle segment, out of the top 10 in 2025. The revival of the iconic nameplate, which features a modular configuration, has achieved sales of 17,542 units. It finished ninth overall on the sales charts in 2025.

Further down the list, at tenth from seventh, is the reliable Toyota Innova, a multi-purpose vehicle known for its spaciousness and durability. It sold 16,112 units, continuing its legacy as a trusted family vehicle.

^The Innova is currently perched at number 10, but we have a gut feeling that the BYD Sealion 6 may be in the mix. The problem is that the newly minted industry #3 BYD Cars Philippines is not being forthcoming with the data, so we will call it in favor of Toyota.

The 2025 best-selling models list reflects Filipino car buyers' diverse needs and preferences. From family MPV models, fuel-efficient subcompact cars to versatile SUVs and reliable commercial vehicles, the top 10 showcases the resilience and dynamism of the Philippine automotive market.
