Foxconn Model T and Model U buses to have Fuso branding
The partnership between Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and Foxtron Vehicle Technologies Co. Ltd., has been made official a few months ago. The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) where Foxtron-developed EVs will be sold under the Mitsubishi name.
But now, it looks like the partnership will go beyond passenger vehicles, as Japan’s Nikkei Asia has reported that Foxconn and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus is close to signing a deal that involves the sale of Foxconn-made EV buses under the Fuso branding.

Foxconn Model T electric bus
According to the report, Mitsubishi Fuso is set to market the Foxconn-developed bus models, the Model T and Model U, under its own brand. Likewise, the partnership could also include the creation of a new business entity to manage the production and distribution of the electric buses.
This could be a separate entity from the recently announced truck merger between Fuso and Hino, but is nevertheless connected to achieving Japan’s climate targets in reducing the country’s greenhouse gas emissions.
For Foxconn’s end, the move diversifies the company’s portfolio in automotive manufacturing, and transform the company’s ability from just being a contract manufacturer to a full automotive solutions provider.
The two companies are yet to comment on the matter at hand, but we could expect an official press release in the coming weeks, if not months.
