How the Hardcore Manila x Hardcore Tokyo meet turned out

Picture this: Weekend by the seaside, cool breeze blowing, early 2000s rock songs being performed live in the background, and hundreds of two and four-wheeled machines in various builds and makes turning up neat and tidy, ready to put on a showcase.

That is exactly the scene that transpired at Okada Manila as the Hardcore Manila meets Hardcore Tokyo event took place last weekend, highlighting the craftsmanship and creativity of Filipino car enthusiasts with pride to the world.

True to the mission of Hardcore Manila, the three-day event at Okada became the place to be where enthusiasts could come together to connect, share their craft, and celebrate cars the way they were always meant to be celebrated.

Speaking of which, the event had a very special guest from Japan - the influential owner and founder of Hardcore Tokyo, Jun Takahashi. For those who are unfamiliar, Hardcore Tokyo is a prominent Japanese car culture brand that's known for building automotive works of art, influenced by 80s Bosozoku / Tokyo underground style aesthetics with the Rocket Bunny and Pandem body kits. This time, Jun Takahashi visited the country for a cultural immersion of what the Philippine automotive scene is all about.

If you had an affinity for the outdoors and the 4x4 lifestyle, the event started with a diverse showcase of properly built pickups and SUVs outfitted with things such as lift kits, beefy tires, and camping gear. Examples of the ever-popular Suzuki Jimny, Ford Ranger Raptor, and various Toyotas like the Land Cruiser, Hilux, and Fortuner turned up at the Boardwalk area of Okada to show the growing scene that is overlanding.

By Day 2, the vibe shifted from rugged to refined and loud. Supercars took center stage in both the indoor area at the Crystal Pavilion and at the outdoor boardwalk area, alongside some of the cleanest tuner builds and purpose-built rides for motorsports.

Civic Type Rs, Nissan Zs, Evos, GR models like the Supra and Yaris, along with the R35 GT-R, turned up fitted with things like widebody kits, air suspension setups, and dope aftermarket wheels, which turned the venue into a car spotter’s dream. European exotics like Lamborghini Huracans, Porsche 911s, and Audi R8s shared space with meticulously built Japanese tuners, highlighting the diversity of performance culture under one roof.

Beyond the cars, the atmosphere stayed lively thanks to a live band that delivered a steady stream of early 2000s rock anthems. The nostalgic soundtrack gave the event a festival-like feel, with groups of friends hanging out between car rows with food and iced coffee in hand, singing along to tracks that defined a generation. It was a reminder that car meets are as much about community as they are about machines.

Sponsor booths rounded out the experience, offering everything from energy drinks, food, high-quality tools, parts, and detailing products to lifestyle merchandise. The participating brands used the space not just to sell and display products, but to connect directly with enthusiasts in answering technical questions.

Of course, the Hardcore Manila meets Hardcore Tokyo event wrapped up with a bang on the final day, as the Okada Manila boardwalk turned into an open space for burnouts, drifts, and hard pulls for a finale that brought engine roar, burnt rubber, and speed together in one awesome spectacle.
