Specs and output figures of Xiaomi YU7 revealed ahead of launch
Just before the holidays last year, Xiaomi surprised everyone when they released the first images of their new electric crossover SUV. Dubbed the 'YU7', it serves as the brand's follow-up to the SU7 and is set to take on the likes of the Tesla Model Y.
With its Ferrari-like looks and proportions, the upcoming electric crossover SUV is poised to become a common sight on PRC roads and could perhaps make its way here. Heck, there has already been a Xiaomi SU7 going around Metro Manila since last year.

Fast forward to February 2025, the PRC's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently published some of the YU7's specs and range. Based on the information they have released, the Xiaomi YU7 will be available in both RWD and AWD variants and will have varying ranges.
All variants of the YU7 will come with lithium ternary battery packs although their exact size has not been revealed. However, the YU7 will apparently be available in three range variants based on the CLTC cycle, 760 km, 750 km, and 670 km. In addition, the maximum power output of the front electric motor is rated at 220 kW (or 299 PS) while the rear electric motor is rated at 288 kW (or 391 PS).

All models of the YU7 will have a curb weight of over 2,400 kg which makes it quite heavy. Despite the weight penalty, the electric crossover in AWD form is rated to have a top speed of 253 km/h. As for the RWD variant, its rear electric motor will produce 235 kW or 319 PS. It also has a top speed of 240 km/h.
With the Xiaomi SU7 (and SU7 Ultra) already seeing success in the People's Republic, perhaps the YU7 crossover EV will become the brand's cash cow as more customers prefer high-riding vehicles. The only question now is, can we expect the YU7 to make its way here in the Philippines?
