Will we see the Mitsubishi Xpander HEV at PIMS 2024?

Mitsubishi PH will bring something unexpected at 2024 Philippine International Motor Show

We're still a long way away from the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), but some manufacturers have already announced they will be bringing something special to the show in October. Isuzu already said they will showcase an electric vehicle (EV), while BMW shared that they will launch the i5 M60 Touring EV.

Today, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) announced they will surprise the public with its product lineup and something unexpected at this year's PIMS. Vehicles like the all-new Xforce and the next-generation Triton will be present at the World Trade Center come October. But as mentioned earlier, MMPC will also showcase its vision for the future of mobility which will offer an all-in-one vehicle that combines unmatched capability, advanced safety, and exceptional comfort—ensuring a superior car experience.

While the automaker did not reveal what exactly they will be bringing at this year's PIMS, we won't be surprised if MMPC could preview the Xpander & Xpander Cross HEV. First revealed in Thailand earlier this year, the electrified MPV is powered by the brand's e:Motion powertrain which consists of a 1.6L naturally-aspirated MIVEC engine that's assisted by an electric motor and battery pack. It also has an electric water pump to reduce mechanical loss to further improve fuel economy.

It has a total system output of 115 PS with 255 Nm of torque and comes with several drive modes; Normal, Tarmac, Gravel, Mud, Wet, EV 100%, and EV Charge. In addition, the electrified MPV has Mitsubishi's All Wheel Control technology which includes Active Yaw Control (AYC), Acceleration Control, and Steering Control.

Should MMPC actually bring the Xpander HEV lineup at this year's PIMS, it will surely cause a buzz in the compact MPV market. Moreover, the electrified MPV could officially make its way to the Philippines come 2025.
