See if your Toyota LC300 or Lexus LX600 is affected

The Toyota Motor Company is having trouble keeping up the quality that its vehicles became known for. From problems affecting models in its Daihatsu subsidiary to its diesel engines, TMC has its work cut out.

Last month, even Toyota’s flagship SUV the Land Cruiser 300, and its Lexus LX600 twin were not spared from having quality issues. Toyota Australia and North America were the first ones to issue a recall, but now it’s confirmed that units exported in the Philippines are also affected.

Toyota Motor Philippines has issued a recall for the LC300 and the Lexus LX600 to reprogram the control unit for the SUV’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

The recall affects a total of 3,494 units. This includes 3,420 LC300 units produced from July 21, 2021, to January 12, 2024 and 74 Lexus LX600 units produced from December 31, 2021, to December 28, 2023.

According to TMP, there’s an issue in the design of the transmission’s brake clutch disc which may cause delayed disengagement when shifting to neutral. In those instances, it could lead to involuntary low-speed forward movement if the foot brake or parking brake is not applied.

Involved customers with vehicles included in the recall are highly encouraged to immediately set an appointment with any authorized Toyota or Lexus dealer to perform the necessary reprogramming of the transmission’s ECU and prevent problems from occurring.

For owners of the affected units, Toyota and Lexus dealers will fix the problem free of charge.
