With four flavors to choose from

While renowned for its motorcycles, Suzuki’s expansive lineup extends far beyond, encompassing everything from comfortable vehicles for a small family to versatile utility options for burgeoning businesses, to highly-capable 4x4 off-road machines and advanced marine engines. This company genuinely provides solutions across numerous segments.

But who would’ve thought that Suzuki—with its expertise in motorcycles, vehicles, and marine technology—would also offer curry dishes?

With its curry so good, the Hamamatsu-based company now offers these ready-to-eat dishes to the public. You can view the website here.

According to news sources, Suzuki’s head office in Hamamatsu had been receiving an influx of employees from India on a business trip. Naturally, its office cafeteria must come up with meal options for its Indian employee guests.

Torizen CEO, Yoshitaka Date, explained that the idea for these recipes began as a direct collaboration in Suzuki’s cafeteria, quickly gaining popularity among employees. He characterized the dishes as having a “gentle, yet powerful flavor,” and born from “gratitude and love for overseas talent, including India.”

Torizen—a local restaurant operator and food supplier— came up with a collection of ready-to-eat curry dishes. The meals were an instant hit within the company, and soon after, Suzuki decided to sell these dishes to the public, complete with packaging that highlights their models.

Meals start at PHP 354

While one might think that these are Japanese-style curries, Suzuki says that these are authentic Indian-style curries and are easy to prepare and ready to eat for convenience, sold at JPY 918 each, or roughly PHP 354. As mentioned, each flavor is packed with its own uniquely designed boxes highlighting the Jimny, Swift, Hayabusa, and V-Strom 1050 DE.

If you’re in for a curry meal, here’s what’s available from the Suzuki menu:

Brown Chickpea Masala (Jimny) - A rich and hearty dish, this masala combines earthy brown chickpeas (with skins) and caramelized, slow-fried onions. The vibrant notes of tomatoes and green chilies provide a sharp, balancing contrast. Spice level 4/5.

Tomato Lentil Dahl (Swift) - This North Indian-inspired stew is both simple and nutritious, highlighting the natural flavors of lentils and tomatoes. Seasoned minimally with cumin, turmeric, and chili, it offers straightforward comfort with surprising depth. Spice level 2/5.

Daikon Sambal (Hayabusa) - This South Indian-style stew features daikon radish, carrots, and turmeric-infused beans. Its distinct sour kick comes from tamarind, and Suzuki suggests pairing it with rice, much like miso soup. Spice level 3/5.

Green Vegetable Moong Dal (V-Strom) - A gentle North Indian dish, this recipe combines peeled yellow mung beans and Japanese mustard spinach. It offers a mild bitterness that is perfectly complemented by the warm, earthy notes of cumin. Spice level 1/5.

As far as vehicles are concerned, many of Suzuki’s models from India have found their way here in the Philippines, with current models including the Jimny 5-door, Dzire, the S-Presso, and many more.
