Driving the wrong car to work can result in a ticket at Stellantis HQ
One of the world’s largest carmakers, Stellantis, oversees brands such as Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Peugeot, Maserati, Fiat, Opel, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Citroen, DS, and Opel. However, the automaker appears to be taking brand loyalty seriously at its North America headquarters.
Employees are reportedly being ticketed for parking non-company vehicles in designated areas at its headquarters in North America, as stricter enforcement of parking rules draws internal criticism. Stellantis designates separate parking zones: one open to all vehicles and another reserved exclusively for company-branded models.
The automaker says the policy is longstanding, noting that “preferred parking is reserved for company-branded vehicles." Enforcement begins with warning stickers before stricter measures, such as vehicle immobilization and penalties, are applied.
As employees return on-site, some say general parking is overcrowded, pushing them into restricted spaces and triggering citations. What's more, workers say the policy adds stress, with limited parking and the high cost of new vehicles that many cannot afford.
From our perspective, it’s not the employees’ fault for not driving a company-branded vehicle; it’s the company’s responsibility to provide ample parking for everyone, regardless of what car they drive. Instead of fining its employees, perhaps Stellantis can put up a bigger parking area where employees can park their vehicles that are not part of the Stellantis brand.
