Like the newly launched iX3, next-gen BMW iX1 may also get BMW's new design philosophy

When BMW said they planned to reveal more than 40 new and updated models by 2027, we thought they were bluffing. However, after reviewing numerous spy photographs provided by our contacts in Europe, it appears that BMW is indeed serious about its plans.

After spotting the next-generation X5, X7, 3 Series, and other upcoming BMWs, our spies managed to take pictures of the next-generation iX1. That’s right, the smallest EV from the German automaker is set to become all-new, and BMW is busy testing it in the Austrian Alps.

Despite the camouflage livery, it’s quite clear that the next-generation iX1 will likely get the Neue Klasse design language just like the all-new BMW iX3. From the clear-cut grille to the newly-designed LED headlights, as well as the wheel wells, it seems the Neue Klasse look will be used across the entire BMW range. Also worth mentioning is that the next-generation iX1 will feature a more angular rear and a revamped D-pillar design.

The LED taillights are still covered up, but the design appears to be the same as the ones found in the iX3, including the tailgate. Beyond that, BMW is not yet ready to disclose everything about the all-new iX1 EV.

When it comes to its electric powertrain, the next-gen BMW iX1 will most likely get the brand’s sixth-generation eDrive technologies. That means we can expect the electric crossover to come with new round-cell batteries that have greater energy density and more efficient motors. No output figures are available just yet, although when it comes to range, we could expect up to 600 km on a single charge on certain variants.

With BMW busy with its goal of launching over 40 new and refreshed models, the iX1 is just one of the many products the German automaker is busy testing.
