Ferrari is busy testing its first-ever EV by using a Maserati Levante mule
Ferrari has long been associated with its high-revving V12s, V8s, and V6s. Yes, internal combustion is still at the core of their passion, but that hasn’t stopped the Maranello-based brand from building electrified and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) stallions. From the LaFerrari to the 296 GTS, as well as the recently launched 849 Testarossa PHEV, Ferrari knows a thing or two about making fast (electrified) thoroughbreds.

So far, Ferrari has relatively kept quiet regarding its EV plans. However, our spies managed to take pictures of what looks to be a test mule by Ferrari. But to throw off our spies, the automaker decided to use a Maserati Levante fitted with Purosangue parts and false panels. The result is a vehicle that looks to be out of this world, literally.
Kidding aside, test mules usually look like this because it’s technically a rolling prototype chassis that has yet to receive a production body. With that, it’s not surprising that Ferrari has opted to use a Maserati Levante to fool spy photographers. Luckily for us, our spies managed to see right through the disguise.

Despite its unconventional looks, it appears the Ferrari EV will have a coupe-like body, which could be capable of seating up to five or four people in total. Heck, we won’t be surprised if it has a 2+2 Purosangue-like seating arrangement.

Powertrain details for Ferrari’s upcoming EV remain a mystery. However, Ferrari has already built a EUR 200 million production facility for EVs and for powertrain & battery manufacturing. In addition, a multi-stage unveiling process is reportedly set to begin on October 9, 2025, at Capital Markets Day. The technological heart will apparently be revealed first, while the interior may be unveiled in 2026.

Last but not least, the entire vehicle will reportedly be revealed sometime in 2026. However, rumors are going around that Ferrari’s first EV won’t see the light of day until 2028.
With Ferrari keeping a tight lid about its upcoming EV, we’re hoping to find out more about Maranello’s EV ambitions in the future.
