Verified travelers to pay less for NAIA Overnight Parking

The country's main gateway, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), is finally giving flying motorists a break after the shocking overnight parking price hikes when they took over operations.

Following a recent system upgrade, the airport's operator, New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), has announced a significant reduction in overnight parking rates for verified passengers. This new program aims to ease the burden on travelers who drive their own vehicles to the airport for their flights.

The move comes after the automated parking system was fully implemented earlier this year, a key upgrade to the airport's infrastructure. This new tech allows for more efficient management of parking slots, which the NNIC says is essential to keep spaces available and accessible for legitimate airport users.

Under the new scheme, travelers can now get a 50% discount on the new standard overnight rate, which was previously a point of contention for many motorists.

To avail of the cheaper rate, all you have to do is follow a simple process:

 * Park and keep your ticket. Take your parking ticket as usual upon entering.

 * Bring both your ticket and boarding pass on your trip.

 * Present both at the validation counter upon your return.

 * Pay only half the standard overnight rate.

This is a welcome development for car owners who regularly fly out of NAIA. But it is noteworthy that NAIA hiked the overnight fee from PHP'300 to PHP 1200. So while the new traveler fee is 50% of the current rate, it is still 200% of the original rate.

Nevertheless, by leveraging its new, smarter parking system, NAIA is working on improving its operational efficiency. While definitely more expensive, the rate will likely be welcomed by travelers who must park at the airport.
