Nissan's annual motorsport festival not pushing through this year

The NISMO Festival, an event usually held annually at Fuji Speedway, is one of the most highly anticipated events not just for Nissan fans but also for motorsports enthusiasts in general. We've had the pleasure of visiting the event on several occasions, and it is indeed a special pilgrimage.

There is some bad news, though: Nissan has announced that the 26th running of the NISMO Festival will be cancelled this year. The manufacturer did not state an exact reason, but here’s their statement:

“This year, we have been considering the content and management methods to hold an event that fans can enjoy, but we have determined that it would be difficult to hold the event as usual, so we have decided to postpone it this year. We will use this opportunity to examine the content and management of this event, with the aim of holding another event that fans can enjoy.”

While no specific reason was given, it is no secret that Nissan has been navigating through very rough seas with its current financial situation. Cancelling the event -while unfortunate- cuts a major expense for the company as they try to steer the ship to more favorable fiscal waters.

The NISMO Festival is typically held in either late November or early December, celebrating the rich motorsport heritage of Nissan, along with the current performance and racing models roaring to life at the Fuji Speedway. It’s an event that always draws thousands of fans, both from Japan and all over the world.

Fortunately, AutoIndustriya was able to go to last year’s NISMO Festival. If you want to read about it, you can click this link. Hopefully, the gathering returns once the situation with Nissan improves.
