Production version of the DST Concept could use the name Mitsubishi Destinator
Back in 2023, we came upon a newly registered name for an upcoming Mitsubishi vehicle. At the time, we initially thought the brand’s new B-SUV, called the XFC Concept, would eventually be named the “Destinator”. However, that did not happen as Mitsubishi launched the XFC Concept as the “XForce”, and the rest, as they say, is history.
So, what vehicle from Mitsubishi will use the Destinator name? Well, according to a reliable source, the production version of the DST Concept will carry that name. That’s right, the 7-seater concept that Mitsubishi revealed at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) will supposedly be named the “Destinator” once the production model debuts.

During our research on the Destinator name years ago, we found out that Mitsubishi registered the name Destinator in the Philippines. In fact, the automaker registered it in the country on October 13, 2022. More importantly, the name of the applicant for the Destinator name in the Philippines is Mitsubishi Jidosha Kogyo Kabishiki Kaisha, which is the full name of the Japanese automaker.
Other details about the DST Concept remain a mystery. However, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMPC) recently pledged to invest PHP 7 billion in the Philippines over the course of five years. MMC president & CEO Takao Kato confirmed that the investment will see the automaker add a new production model at Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation’s (MMPC) Sta. Rosa plant in Laguna.

MMPC has yet to reveal what new model they will produce in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. But since the DST Concept made its global debut in the Philippines, the production version of the 7-seater concept could be produced here in the country. However, another possible model that could be produced locally is the Xpander, which continues to be a popular choice among MPV buyers.
