Mitsubishi Motors PH donates pickup for Laguna education and nutrition programs
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) and the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) have formalized their partnership through the signing of a Deed of Donation, marking the official turnover of a Mitsubishi Strada Athlete pick-up to support the DUNONG Program (Department of Education–Laguna–University of the Philippines Los Baños Nurturing Opportunities for the Next Generation Towards Ending Learning Poverty in the Philippines).

The initiative addresses two pressing challenges faced by Filipino children: learning poverty and malnutrition. By combining education and feeding interventions, the program seeks to improve reading comprehension among learners while ensuring they receive proper nourishment to thrive.
During the turnover ceremony, MMPC Chairman, Noriaki Hirakata, emphasized the importance of collaboration between industry and academe, calling the partnership a symbol of shared responsibility in driving knowledge, innovation, and national development.
“Today’s turnover is a symbol of partnership — one that brings together the strengths of industry and academia to support the growth of knowledge, innovation, and national progress,” he shared.
For his part, MMPC President and CEO, Ritsu Imaeda, noted that the donation reflects the company’s broader mission of contributing to nation-building beyond mobility.
“At Mitsubishi Motors, our mission has always been about more than producing quality vehicles. We aim to be a trusted partner in nation-building, contributing to the progress of the Philippines not only through mobility, but also through programs that uplift lives,” Imaeda said.

UPLB Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. expressed gratitude, stressing that the donated Strada Athlete will play a vital role in reaching schools and communities more effectively. Vice Chancellor Janette Malata-Silva added that MMPC’s commitment to education and social responsibility inspires greater hope for future generations.
Through this collaboration, MMPC continues to support education and community development, reinforcing its commitment to creating a positive and lasting impact in the Philippines.
