GWM previews their first 7-seater SUV in the country

GWM Philippines has taken the covers off a 7-seater 4x4 SUV that will soon join its model lineup.

Making its public debut at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show is the GWM Haval H9. The boxy SUV is the brand’s answer to premium 4x4 SUVs in the country, with its luxury-grade features and impressive off-road hardware.

While it does share its look with the Haval Menglong, which was previewed at last year’s MIAS, the Haval H9 is a larger, full-size SUV. The front fascia has a rectangular grille with four horizontal chrome bars flanked by round LED headlights for that retro look.

Like the Tank 300, the Haval H9's spare tire is mounted on the swing-out tailgate. Its rated maximum water wading depth is 800mm.

Inside, the H9 welcomes you with a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 14.6-inch central control screen once you look at its dashboard. There are three rows of seats in a 2-3-2 layout – a first for a GWM in the country. Once you step in, there are plenty of soft-touch surfaces and tan leather to give that premium feel.

The center console is similar in design to the Tank 300 with the gear lever surrounded by buttons and knobs for the SUV’s off-road tech toys.

Powering the Haval H9 is a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder turbodiesel shared with the updated GWM Cannon. The unit makes 186 PS and 480 Nm of torque and is paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission with BorgWarner’s torque-on-demand intelligent four-wheel-drive system.

For now, GWM Philippines is still finalizing the rest of the specifications for the Haval H9. But for those coming to the World Trade Center for MIAS 2025, the 4x4 SUV will be on display from April 10 to 13.
