MG teases pickup truck for PH market, launches Oct 23

MG Motor Philippines is set to reveal another vehicle just before we say goodbye to October. It's set to be unveiled on October 23, 2025, and from the looks of things, it's going to be a midsize pickup truck.

Despite MG's best efforts to hide what it is, we already have a good idea of what to expect. Based on the shadowy teaser image, it looks like the Maxus T60 is set to make a Philippine comeback with the MG brand, just like what MG did with the MG/Maxus G50 MPV. But instead of calling it the T60, the pickup truck may be called the MG TRQ-L.

While we initially thought that MG Motor Philippines planned to launch the T90 as the TRQ-L, it appears the T60 will bear the TRQ nameplate once MG launches it next week. But what can interested buyers expect from the midsize pickup truck?

Based on LTO homologation documents, the MG TRQ-L will initially be offered in 4x2 variants, with manual and automatic transmission choices. It will measure 5365mm long, 1906mm wide, 1857mm tall, a 3155mm wheelbase, and will have a generous 255mm of ground clearance. A quick check at what other markets get, and the dimensions of the T60/TRQ match what the Philippine market will get.

As far as the powertrain is concerned, the MG TRQ-L will most likely come with a 2.0L turbo-diesel engine. This comes after MG Motor Philippines received regulatory approval for a 1996cc turbo-diesel engine a few months ago. Based on what other markets get, the 2.0L engine makes 161 PS and 375 Nm with a single turbo setup. With a pair of turbos, however, the engine makes more with 215 PS and 400 Nm of pull. Transmission options may include a 6-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual gearbox.

With MG Motor Philippines gearing up for its launch next week, we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for new information about the upcoming pickup.
