BYD’s premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand has officially arrived in the Philippines, and it’s here to disrupt the luxury plug-in hybrid (PHEV) market.

We broke the news of Denza's arrival in late 2024 when BYD Asia Pacific Sales head Mr. Liu Xueliang candidly revealed the plans when asked. He earlier targeted Q4 of 2025 for the brand's arrival in the Philippines. Now it's finally here!

Say hello to Denza Philippines, which has launched its first-ever offering: the all-new Denza D9. Aimed squarely against the likes of the Lexus LM and the GAC M8 PHEV, the D9 combines plug-in hybrid power & efficiency with a premium cabin that’s no less than executive class.

Beginning with the exterior, the all-new Denza D9 features an avant-garde design that highlights the brand’s high-end look. A huge grille that’s accompanied by a distinct pair of LED headlights & daytime running lights immediately grabs your attention. Meanwhile, automatic sliding doors welcome occupants into a luxurious interior that we’ll get into later.

The D9 also comes with two sunroofs: one for the driver & front passenger and a bigger panoramic sunroof for the rear occupants, eye-catching LED taillights that are connected by a central light bar, metal accents on the D-pillars, a tailgate spoiler, and a power tailgate for easy access to the luggage area.

Size-wise, the D9 measures 5250mm long, 1960mm wide, 1920mm tall, and has a generous 3100mm wheelbase. It also has multi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels that highlight the MPV’s premium looks.

Hop inside, and the D9 welcomes passengers into a lounge-like interior. It has Nappa leather upholstery all around, along with power-adjustable seats for the front and second-row captain seats. Speaking of captain seats, those seated in the second row are treated to Zero Gravity seats that Denza claims relieve tension in your spine for a more relaxing ride. It even comes with a 10-point massage system and a multi-function touchscreen armrest for easy access to the controls. Not to feel left out, the front seats also come with the massage seats.

A pair of high-definition screens sits front & center on the dashboard; one is a 10.25-inch digital cluster while the other is a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It supports wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, and also manages the D9’s suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and other in-car amenities. For extra convenience, the MPV also has an integrated fridge that can keep your beverages cold or warm.

Other niceties available inside the Denza D9 include double-pane windows for extra sound insulation, folding tray tables for the second-row passengers, separate climate control for the rear passengers, and a heads-up display for the driver.

Powering the D9 is a 1.5L turbocharged engine that serves to charge the plug-in hybrid system, as well as provide additional motivation when needed. The engine itself puts out 138 PS with 231 Nm of torque, while a pair of electric motors generate a combined 299 kW or 406 PS and a whopping 681 Nm of torque.

The motors are powered by a 40 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that supports up to 80 kW of fast DC charging and provides an electric range of up to 180 km. With a full tank of gas and a fully charged battery, Denza claims the D9 PHEV has a combined range of up to 1,040 km based on the NEDC cycle.

The Denza D9 PHEV is only available in one variant and is retailing for PHP 4,298,000. However, the first 300 customers who will be able to buy can get the Denza D9 for just PHP 3,998,000. The purchase includes 24/7 roadside assistance, 8 years or 150,000 km battery warranty, a free AC wallbox charger, and free 3-year PMS.

Available colors for the D9 include Arctic White, Cosmos Black, Starry Night Gray, and Whale Sea Blue.
