2026 Mitsubishi Triton is already homologated by the LTO for PH
A few days ago, we found out that the Land Transportation Office (LTO) homologated several 2026 model year variants of the Mitsubishi Triton pickup. Since Mitsubishi Motors Thailand already launched the updated Triton last week, it's not surprising that Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) appears to be making the necessary preparations for its arrival here in the country.
At the time, the LTO only approved the GLX models of the pickup truck. Now, more variants of the 2026 Triton have appeared on the LTO's homologation list. The new additions of the 2026 Triton include the Athlete 4x4 AT, the GLS 2WD AT, the GL 2WD MT, and the GL 4WD MT. As a result, the 2026 model year variants now reflect the model lineup of the current Mitsubishi Triton.
As before, all aforementioned variants will be powered by a 2442cc turbo-diesel engine, which translates to an exact displacement of 2.4L. The non-Athlete variants will likely carry over the single turbo setup, which makes 183 PS with 430 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line Athlete 4x4 will get the bi-turbo setup that generates 204 PS and 470 Nm of torque. Transmission options will likely include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic.
Just like the Thai-spec Triton, the updated pickup truck for the Philippine market will likely get some new features like the nanoe X air purification system and Heat Guard for the leather seats to reflect heat away from the upholstery. Last but not least, the non-Athlete variants will likely ditch the chrome accents in favor of dark chrome or blacked-out trim pieces for a sleeker appearance.
MMPC is not yet stating anything about the updated Triton. But since the LTO has already approved several variants for the 2026 model year, it might not be long before they release a teaser or quietly launch them either later this year or early next year.
