LTO approves 2026 model year versions of the Mitsubishi Triton

Last week, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand revealed the 2025 Triton. While it did not receive a major facelift, the automaker “de-chromed” the non-Athlete variants to give them a more aggressive look. Moreover, Mitsubishi introduced new and upgraded technologies in the 2025 Triton, which include a nanoe X air purification system and Heat Guard for the leather seats to reflect heat away from the upholstery.

Fast forward a week, and it looks like Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is already preparing to bring the updated Triton. This comes after the Land Transportation Office (LTO) released new homologation documents about the brand's upcoming pickup truck.

Based on new memorandum circulars, the LTO has already approved several variants of the Mitsubishi Triton. More importantly, the recently approved models are all listed as 2026 model years. That's right, just like the updated Mirage G4, the upgraded Triton will be released as a 2026 model year vehicle. Based on the LTO documents, it looks like MMPC has only gotten approval for the GLX variants, particularly the 2WD MT, the 4WD MT, and the 2WD AT.

All aforementioned variants will come with a 2442cc turbo-diesel engine, which means the 2.4L 4N16 engine will be carried over for the 2026 model year.

There's no mention of the GL, GLS, and Athlete variants of the 2026 Triton. However, we're guessing the GLX variants were the first to be approved by the LTO. That means the other variants may have yet to be approved by the agency, so we'll check from time to time if there will be any new updates.

Since the Mirage G4 has been given a refresh, it's not surprising to see Mitsubishi has now turned its attention to the Triton. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long for its local debut in the country.
