Toyota PH previews upcoming Urban Cruiser EV

Yesterday, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) announced its entire lineup of upcoming vehicle launches for 2026. This comes as a surprise, as the automaker usually keeps its upcoming reveals close to its chest. But with brands gaining a larger share of the automotive pie in the Philippines, TMP is going all out this year.

As we mentioned yesterday, cars like the Land Cruiser FJ, Land Cruiser 300 HEV, the all-new RAV4, and the next-generation Hilux are all set to be launched in the country soon. However, TMP might first launch its newest all-electric crossover, the Urban Cruiser.

During a recent Toyota event, TMP previewed the Urban Cruiser in the metal. While the automaker is not yet ready to fully reveal the all-new EV, the Urban Cruiser is actually a product of Suzuki & Toyota's partnership. That's right, the Toyota Urban Cruiser is essentially the rebadged version of the Suzuki e Vitara, which is also on its way to the Philippines.

Despite the vehicle being partially covered, we already know what it looks like based on what other markets get. It gets some styling cues borrowed from the bZ4X, as well as the all-new Prius, thanks to its sleek front fascia and generous use of black body cladding. It also has muscular wheel arches and a distinct set of alloy wheels that make it stand out. Last but not least are the eye-catching LED taillights, complete with a central light bar.

Local specifications for the Toyota Urban Cruiser have yet to be released by the brand. However, the Department of Energy has already recognized it as an EV, and it will have a single electric motor producing 128 kW or 174 PS with 193 Nm of torque. It's also listed to have a 61 kWh battery pack, which means it could have a range of up to 426 km, which is the same as the Suzuki e Vitara. Dimensions-wise, the Urban Cruiser EV will measure 4285mm long, 1800mm wide, and 1635mm tall.

With the Urban Cruiser already being previewed by Toyota Motor Philippines, it might not be long before the brand officially reveals it.
